About Team Malizia

You have seen our hiring video which gives you a feeling for us as a team. Our team is currently building a new IMOCA race boat, preparing and planning for The Ocean Race 2023 and the Vendee Globe 2024/25 as well as managing the finance and logistics surrounding this. This part of the team is already a strong group of 12 international people mostly working in Vannes and sometimes remotely.

The less visible but ultimately even more important and complicated work happens in the background mostly in Hamburg around the evolution of our “A Race We Must Win” campaign. This is the part of the team we want to strengthen.

Our goal is to inspire ambitious climate action through the emotions of our sport and educating around solutions for the climate crisis. Our campaign unites multiple stakeholders such as our seven main-partners (sponsors), NGOs and foundations as well as education and science institutes behind the common goal of climate action (SDG13).

Through authentic storytelling we share the endeavour of round the world racing, the beauty and vulnerability of the oceans as well as the adventure of technology and competition. The massive media attention generated by this forms the cornerstone of an impactful communications platform which is complemented by dedicated science, education and events programs.

We strive to create further direct positive impact through our mangrove reforestation program, entrepreneurial activities, collaborations with race organisers and competitors and through our partners.

Areas we want to grow

  • Research, storytelling and writing around climate solutions and ocean topics (especially regarding the industries of our partners) for our A Race We Must Win campaign
  • Creating and executing a long-term communications strategy
  • Hands on PR execution and expertise: writing of press releases, PR-coordination, media tracking, journalist management, press conference hosting etc… (recent content examples include a NDR documentary, National Geographic, Business Insider and BBC News).
  • Liaising with our partners on our joint communications strategy and execution
  • Adding ideas and management around new book and documentary projects
  • Developing our education and science projects and gaining more visibility publicly
  • Planning and creation of content on various channels – creating a red thread throughout our communications

Wish list for our dream candidate:

  • A strong desire to create impact regarding the climate crisis
  • Curiosity to dig deeper and generate substantial knowledge around climate solutions
  • Ability to think autonomously beyond the mainstream and to dig deeper into ideas and topics
  • Creative thinking on how to connect our multi layer campaign across multiple communication levels and stakeholders
  • Relevant professional experiences in one or several of the following areas (communication strategy, PR, content creation, partnerships and corporate communications)
  • University degree / Masters or Diplom
  • German language mother tongue plus fluent in English or vice versa. (French a bonus)
  • Willingness to travel 1-2 weeks per month in average and sometimes up to 3 weeks
  • Strong organisational skills, a problem solver with a hands on attitude when needed, able to prioritise efficiently with attention to details and deadlines
  • Confident, positive, outspoken team player – we want to be challenged and for you to introduce ideas and to develop our communication strategy with us
