The time has finally come, with the IMOCA fleet gathered at the Vendée Globe race village. The teams are doing the final preparations, hoisting dock sails, stringing flags and polishing their hulls in preparation for the opening tomorrow.

Tomorrow the village will open to the public and both the organisation and the teams couldn’t be more excited. This marks a huge milestone for the teams and the countdown to the start day on 8th November 2020. The teams will cross the start line of this round the world solo nonstop race and head down into the Southern Ocean, completing a long lap around Antarctica, over approximately 75 days.

It takes years of preparation, hard work and commitment to get this far and the team are delighted to be ready and waiting on the start line. The race organisation has put in a tremendous amount of work to ensure that the race could go ahead even in these uncertain times and with 33 boats ready to go it is the highest turnout to date.

Tomorrow, as the doors to the race village open, the Malizia team will be welcoming partner’s guests into the race village with distanced tours of the village and the pontoon area, offering exciting insights into the boat, the team and this fascinating race.

The team and Boris will be providing you with updates and content on the website, on social media and in the media.

So, stay tuned to follow the journey to the start line and beyond.
